QLC Celebrates the 10th QLZH Foundation Ocean Bed Clean-Up

QLC was proud to support the QLZH Foundation's Ocean Bed Clean-Up, which marked a special milestone - its 10th edition - this past Saturday, 12th September, at Ix-Xatt tal-Birgu near the Birgu Regatta Club.

The event welcomed over 80 volunteers, including 25 divers who worked beneath the surface to clear the seabed, along with snorkelers, on-land volunteers, and SUP and kayak teams who helped transport collected waste from the sea to the shore. Volunteers also took part in a guided breathing and stretching session with Yogalex before heading into the water.

By the end of the day, an incredible 2.7 metric tonnes of rubbish had been cleared from the seabed and surrounding coastline. The Mayor of Birgu, John Boxall, also joined the event in support of the initiative.

QLZH Foundation CEO Steve Mercieca once again played a key role, taking part alongside volunteers as he has throughout the initiative's ten-year history. A dedicated advocate for marine conservation, his passion and continued involvement have helped this event grow into what it is today.

We'd like to extend our thanks to this year's sponsors and partners, whose support made this milestone edition possible: Dr Juice, Dive Systems, EZ Creations, Visit Malta, BMIT, Laferla Insurance, Red Cross, Transport Malta, Birgu Local Council, Malta Surf Club, Sensi Watersports, VIBE FM, Legacy Ventures, Yogalex, TVS, Insynk and CLA.

Ten years of community-driven change - here's to keeping our seas clean for many more editions to come! 🌊
